O Brother Mini DisplayPort to Dual DVI Adapter, where art thou?

It's been over a month since the new Macbook Pros were released, and in that month, we've been waiting with bated breath for word on the new ship date.

Thus far, thorough Google Searches have revealed basically zero information about when this thing may finally arrive. Until then, we remain without our 30 inch monitors.

Poor us, I know. But you know, when you work with computers for a living, a 30" monitor just makes sense. It's kind of like a good samurai needs a good sword, right? These are the tools of our trade, and a monitor is the #1 productivity boost you can have.

@days.each do |day|
   if day.items.shipped?(:dual_dvi_adapter)
     self.rejoice!
   else
     self.gnash_teeth(:amount=>:a_lot)
     self.whine!
     self.whine!
     self.whine!
   end
end

Apple didn't actually fix the fan in my old MBPro. They replaced the superdrive, which wasn't broken in the first place. Looks like I'll have to bring it in again at some point. Weak! =(

Sure you like 30"... but you should try 2 x 19", it is less expensive and once you are used your productivity is +20% than with 30"...

This is going to sound obnoxious, but at my old job we had 3 x 20", which just really didn't hit the spot the same way 1 30" does.

Window management BLOWS. I think it's probably one of the worst aspects of modern operating systems today. Even with expose, spaces, and other features trying to make it better, it's so hard to have 10 windows open at once and switch between them easily to find the content you need. I'm constantly rearranging windows and using command tab to switch between apps. When you have 4 terminal windows open, with 2 or 3 tabs each, it's so hard to find the one you want.

Anyway, point being: window management sucks. And having 2 screens as opposed to 1 makes it just a little more difficult. You'll be battling where to put windows and moving them across from one to the other, etc. That gap between the screens will make it harder. When i'm using my 30" + laptop screen, my focus is always on one or the other and there's a deliberate change of viewing angle and focus when switching.

You just can't beat the flexibility of one giant screen vs several small ones.

You need to look at it on the bright side. Small screens force you to write more compact and efficient code. If you only had a single dismal 15-inch screen, you may have used the following instead:

3.times {self.whine!} #;-)

I agree. typing self.whine three times was definitely not DRY. ;)

ps -- how do you embed code like that into your posterous??

It's a little known feature that we added called the

tag. Surround some code with those tags and you'll get it.

Works better through the web interface than email at the moment.
