Super 8 is the lomophotography/polaroid kitch of video

Really cool video by Daniel Carbone, so retro, but you can tell its totally modern because early in the shot there's a Nissan Altima.

Makes me want to run out and play with a Super 8. Can you imagine the possibilities of Super 8 + nonlinear editing?

I have Super-8 but find it cumbersome to digitize. Good thing there are "old movie" filters, so I can shoot HD ;-)

really cool indeed. I was just wondering if there are any digital effects on modern day movie editing software (I'm thinking iMovie mostly) that can mimic the same effects. A "super 8" effect would be awesome to play around with.

Back around 2005 when I was working at the Red Sox, the band The Thrills visited the park before their show in town. In their entourage was their photographer who captured their entire visit to Fenway on Super-8. He said they were documenting their entire tour with it. That's a lot of 3 minute rolls of film.

it's really nice. 8mm not take just a picture but an emotion.

hey Garry ... i have some S8 (and even older double 8) movies from my childhood. I intended to preserve them digitally for years (as opposed to doing it).
So adding on 2 of your posts:
Do you think the FlipMinoHD you mentioned is good for grabbing them (just filming the projection)??
And are you content with the white balance of the FlipMino ??
