The back room: most awesome secret back alley bar in NYC ever

Wow. Great music, great crowd and the most amazing $12 absinthe cocktails you will ever have.

It is in the lower east side someplace. Look for the sign below, walk down the dark back alley behind this gate and you will be rewarded handsomely.

It doesn't look very inviting so I'm sure it's surprising inside. Wouldn't go for absinthe though... If I ever get to NYC...which I really hope I do some day..I'll bear this in mind..amongst many other things. I'd LOVE to see NYC at least once..

Is this the one down the alley that you end up in a retro 20's looking Jazz club? Not far from Ludlow?

If it is, I may have wandered in there one evening with some friends...would like to go back but can't recall the address.

I once bought 70% fake-o absinthe (it's the only kind you can get in most countries) in Spain and it was so foul. My friends and I would take it with us to parties because we knew nobody would drink it and we could use it in future parties. That all ended when I was pseudo-dating this girl who was a bit crazy (my friends said she was slightly retarded, but who knows) and she drank it all one night.

She was pretty retarded all the way around.  We used to stock up on disgusting drinks like Stroh 80, Absolut Raspberry, and stuff for drinking games, but there's always somebody who can drink anything and much of it.  I can't even drink shots these days.  My partying days have boiled down to drinking Sam Adams with my girlfriend while we play Spore until I can't comprehend what's going on anymore.  It gets pretty complex at the space age or six beers, whichever comes first.  ("The Grox are attacking again (?!) while I'm trying to eradicate diseased Arkopods of Solaris 9 to appease the Gartusians so I can open up a trade route!")

I wish I lived in a cool enough place to have trendy and/or hidden bars.  The last place I went out drinking to was the lobby bar of a Hilton.  I think before that was a Florida airport bar.

Oh man that is truly hilarious. I really need to try Spore... well, maybe later, after we ship a ton of these features that have been sitting on our plates for too long...
